JOINING THE TUESDAY NIGHT SUPPER CLUB
SUPPORTS WNY FOOD PANTRY PROGRAMS
New Members Help Feed the Hungry in Rochester, Buffalo
BUFFALO – New members joining the Tuesday Night Supper Club between now and November 26 will contribute to the ThanksGiving funds for FoodLink in Rochester and the Food Bank of Western New York in Buffalo and surrounding areas, announced Kerry Gleason, director of the Tuesday Night Supper Club.
A $30 individual membership will net a $10 contribution, and a $50 dual membership will result in a $20 donation to one of the organizations.
“The Tuesday Night Supper Club is a way for people to meet new friends and enjoy delicious meals prepared by some of the area’s finest chefs every other week or once a month,” Mr. Gleason said. “It’s only fair that we give back to the people who barely have enough food to survive, especially the families with elderly parents and children in the household.
"We need more members, and the food pantries need funds to meet the needs of the hungry through the holiday season. This is the perfect way to help all three organizations," he added.
Mr. Gleason said he hopes that each chapter will generate $2,000 through 20 new memberships in each city between now and Thanksgiving.
The Tuesday Night Supper Club started in Rochester in February 2003, and expanded to Buffalo in June of that year. In Rochester, the club ventures to a different locally owned restaurant every other week; in Buffalo, it congregates on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Each event features a social hour allowing guests to meet new people, network with business prospects, or simply to flirt with other singles. The dinner follows, and Gleason works with many of the area’s finest chefs to prepare special tasting menus, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine tasting or other culinary perks. In Buffalo, the Tuesday Night Supper Club has visited Oliver’s, the Hourglass, Tsunami, Lotis, Sofra Turkish Cuisine, Tandoori’s and even arranged a four-course Progressive Dinner on Elmwood with each course at a different restaurant. In Rochester, the club has visited Pearl, the Rio Bamba, the Cantonese House, Tapas 177 and hosted a Progressive Dinner on Park Ave.
The next event in Buffalo is next Tuesday, Sept. 28 at Billy Ogden’s, 1834 William St. The menu consists of an appetizer platter featuring stuffed hot peppers, calamari, fried mozzarella, roasted garlic and foccaccia, a choice of salad, and a sampler platter of three different entrees: Tortellini Contadina (plump torellini with sausage and creamed plum tomatoes), James Beard Pork Tenderloin (roasted pork tenderloin with hoisin sauce and Jack Daniels whiskey, with apple, bacon and onions) and Chicken Vincenzo (chicken with sausage and sweet peppers). That’s a feast, and the cost is only $27 for members and $32 for non-members. The following event on Oct. 26 will feature The Como, 2220 Pine Ave. in Niagara Falls.
The next event in Rochester is a Chinese Feast at the Jade Palace, which will include their Dragon Phoenix soup, a variety of appetizers, pork fried rice, sauteed shrimp with cashews, Hunan beef and scallops, the “Lucky Family,” (shrimp, crab, pork beef and chicken in a delectable brown sauce), Chao San Hsien (chicken, barbecued pork and lobster in a savory sauce), and lemon chicken. Cost for the event is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. The following event on Oct. 19 will feature Bistro 135, 135 W. Commercial St. in East Rochester.
Members receive discounts at the events and are eligible for special drawings and perks throughout the year. Mr. Gleason said that a similar club in New York City charges a membership of $1,000 to join, making the Tuesday Night Supper Club a bargain. The Rochester club consists of almost 70 members and the Buffalo club has about one dozen, but guests are welcome to attend any of the events. He added that several couples have met through the Tuesday Night Supper Club and have begun dating.
“We are not strictly a singles club, but it proves that food and laughter can be the elixir of love,” he said. “Nearly every restaurant we’ve visited has complimented us on the guests who attend our event and how much fun they bring into the restaurant. As our club grows, it gets to be even more fun.”

Great Service!!
I stopped for a Sub. at Wegmans last night I didn't know that they closed at 9 PM. A wonderful young lady "Deb" had everything wrapped and ready to go to the cooler. She asked "How can I help you?" I said "That's OK I didn't know you were closing" She said "No problem - what would you like" She unwrapped what was needed and made the sub perfectly and was always very pleasant. What a great employee!!!

TUESDAY NIGHT SUPPER CLUB’S ANNIVERSARY
TO BE CELEBRATED AT CURLY’S BAR & GRILL
Jamaican, Caribbean Cuisine Rings in
Club’s 2nd Year BUFFALO –
The Tuesday Night Supper Club is instrumental in introducing new friends and
promoting local restaurants throughout Western New York. Next Tuesday, June
22,the club’s Buffalo chapter will celebrate its first birthday at Curly’s
Bar & Grill, 647Ridge Road in Lackawanna. The event is open to the public.
The cost for this event is$36 for members and $40 for non-members.
"The Tuesday Night Supper Club helps to promote
locally owned restaurants to people who love dining, singles who want to meet
new friends and couples who want a night out during the week," explained
marketing professional Kerry Gleason, president of AdWorks, who brought the
organization to Buffalo in June of last year. "Statistics show that most
people are reluctant to try a restaurant on their own further than five miles
of their homes unless somebody brings them there. We are the catalyst for
bringing people out to places they might not try on their own." He added
that the opportunity to dine together has proven to be the recipe for romance,
too. While the club is not designed to be a singles organization, it is a way
for people to find a compatible mate. Gleason said that several couples who
met at Supper Club events are still going strong, and other members have used
the bi-weekly outings as a rite of courtship, bringing dates as guests. Still
others, he joked, use the Tuesday Night Supper Club as an evening away from
the spouse for "girls’ (or guys’) night out.
Club events
usually feature a special menu or perks, which are negotiated by the club in
exchange for bringing a group in on an ordinarily
slow restaurant night. Dinner is preceded
by a social hour, which gives people a chance to interact and get to know one
another over the course in a friendly, congenial
setting. Anyone may attend Tuesday Night
Supper Club events, even if they are not members. Attendance at its Buffalo
events ranges from about 15 to 30 people.
