January 10, 2006 Several Western NY restaurants are coming back! The first is at the site of Romanello's Roseland on the West Side which opened as Prime 490. The other is  The Cloister on Delaware which hopes to open by next fall. Read the full article from Business First.

January 4, 2006 Welcome to the New Year everyone! The Tonawanda Showcase is slated for May 6th and 7th this year at the Lincoln Arena. If you would like to be a sponsor for this event, (great publicity) you can get the official form right here. [FORM

December 12, 2005 Many area restaurants are getting their own web sites with their own dot com. Many people can't find them, even using Google. Let's not let that happen to the eating establishments in our area. Blendings is trying to provide an easier way for people to find this information. Whether you're an owner or a customer, let me know if a food related business has their own web site and I will make a link to it. If they don't have a web page, I will make it for them free.
Hopefully Buffalo is coming into a renaissance (long overdue!) and I want to do everything I can to promote the great food that is available in our area. If you would like a free web page - e-mail: ewolf@blendings.com   Best wishes to all!  Ed Wolf

November 12,2005 Last night we tried some take-out Thai food - a bit closer to our home - from Taste of Thai (833-8423) at 1460 Hertel Ave. North Buffalo [map]. We tried their Shrimp pad Thai and thought it was terrific! We'll be back.
I was amazed at the number of places to go along Hertel Ave. Wow - has this strip come alive! There was a parking lot very near and I got lucky as someone was just leaving as I came by.

November 11, 2005 A few weeks ago we had the pleasure of dining with friends of ours at a Thai restaurant called Dhini's Cafe (568-1131). It's located in a plaza at the corner of Hopkins and Klein in Amherst [map]. It was fabulous! They serve both Thai and American cuisine, so there is something there for everyone. Our personal favorite was the Shrimp pad Thai, but everything was great! We had such a taste for it, we ordered take-out the very next week. It was great!

September 16, 2005 I just became aware of another great web site for information about Buffalo's restaurants and other great attractions. It's called Buffalo City Life. Be sure to check it out!

September 10, 2005 A new restaurant is getting ready to open on the 13th in the Village of Kenmore at the corner of Delaware and Lasalle. It is called Brocco's. 716-871-2411. I'll let you know more after they open.

September 9, 2005 Recently, some visitors to Blendings, went to the Water Street Landing in Lewiston, NY and had this to say: "We did go to the Water Street Landing and enjoyed our dinner. The food and service were very good. My friend had tuna for the first time and liked it very much. I had prime rib which was also good. Another friend had scallops on a bed of noodles--a bit much--and I'm not sure what she thought of it." "I would go back and highly recommend the Water Street Landing."

If anyone would like to share their dining experiences, or food news please drop me a line.

June 1, 2005 After spending a wonderful evening at Oliver's, we were told by the staff that the Hourglass is closed for good, not for renovations. After leaving Oliver's we went to the Hourglass and the signs imply they are closed for kitchen renovations.
Let's all hope the signs are right. Long live Crčme Brulee!!

March 5, 2005 Fish Fry on Friday is always a big thing in Western NY, especially during Lent. It seems that everyone has their favorite place to go, but are usually willing to try somewhere else on occasion if recommended by a family friend. That was our reason to try Shirlee's 656 Millersport Amherst 716-834-1919. We were told to come early because there are no reservations and after 5PM it fills up really fast because the fish is really good and very large. We tried the beer-battered fish and it was FANTASTIC! The outside was nice and crisp an the delicious inside just melted in your mouth. It was so large that it actually hung over the edges of the plate. What a treat! They also have take out in case you want to pick it up on the way home from work.
