December 17, 2006 While driving home the other evening I noticed that Tsunami on Kenmore Ave. was closed and will reopen as Torches. This event was explained by Janice Okun (Buffalo News Food Editor) in GUSTO on Friday. Chef Michael Andrzejewski has closed Tsunami and it will be taken over by two brother, J.J. and Kevin Richart. Torches will be open by March 1st. [Full Story]

December 12, 2006 If your in a hurry and looking for for something for a person who likes Fine Dining I found that you can purchase a Gift Certificate on-line for Oliver's. Just go to http://www.oliversgift.com or call 716-877-9662. How easy is that! If there are other restaurants doing that - let me know. I thought it was a great idea!

November 18,2006 Well, it's that time of year when a very important decision has to be made - how to cook the turkey. Over the years I think we must have tried just about every method except the deep-fry method. (We love stuffing done in the bird!) The last few years it was brined first, but the final decision for this year has yet to be made. Whatever decision is made I know it will be fantastic. To help you make your decision I've included a few links. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!

June 27,2006   Last Sunday was Lewiston's Culinary Arts Festival and what a great event it was! It was a beautiful sunny day and the smell of delicious food was everywhere. A portion of Center St. was closed and the street was lined with food vendors, live music and hundreds of people enjoying the event.
Mary and I were privileged to be asked to be judges for the entrees, ribs and pizza this year. We arrived at our station after a short walk from a nearby parking lot and were greeted by several wonderful volunteers who would be bringing the anonymous entrees and cold water to cleanse our palettes.
Each entry was judged for Taste, Presentation and Creativity. As we finished each entry, an attentive volunteer would clear the area and bring the next entry. Judging is always difficult, but in each category, there was just one that stood out above the rest.
Mary and I didn't agree on everything, so we really didn't know for sure which ones would get the most points. We found out when we saw the results below.
All in all, it was a very well organized, not - to - be - missed event that is certain to please anyone's taste.
What could be better - great food, great weather, great organization - all in beautiful historic Lewiston!  WOW
Be sure to check here next spring so you can mark your calendars and reserve the date for next year's  Lewiston Culinary Arts Festival!

December 12, 2005 Many area restaurants are getting their own web sites with their own dot com. Many people can't find them, even using Google. Let's not let that happen to the eating establishments in our area. Blendings is trying to provide an easier way for people to find this information. Whether you're an owner or a customer, let me know if a food related business has their own web site and I will make a link to it. If they don't have a web page, I will make it for them free.
Hopefully Buffalo is coming into a renaissance (long overdue!) and I want to do everything I can to promote the great food that is available in our area. If you would like a free web page - e-mail: ewolf@blendings.com   Best wishes to all!  Ed Wolf
